This project will show you how to set up a menu with main "File", "Edit", "View" and "Help" options. It will also have submenu options "Open", "Close" and "Exit" under the File option.
Start the MSEide+MSEgui program.
Start a new project from template.
Click on the "tmainmenuwidget" on the Widget tab. Click for image
Click on the uper left area of the form to place the menu widget. image
Click to expand the "menu" tree of the "twidgetmainmenu" in the object inspector. image
Scroll down and click to expand the "menu" item of the tmenuitem. image
Scroll down and set the submenu.count to 4. image
Click to expand the submenu.count. image
Click to expand item 0. image
Set the item 0 caption to "File". image
Click to collapse item 0. image
Repeat the process to set the captions of items 1, 2 and 3 to Edit, View and Help. image
Click the right edge of the tmainmenuwidget on the form and drag it to the right so it shows on 1 line. image
Click Target -> Continue or press F9 to execute the menu project. image
Click the upper right close (X) button to exit the program and return to the ide. image
In the object inspector set the "File" menu item submenu.count to 3. image
Repeat the process used when setting the "File", "Edit", "View" and "Help" items to set the "File" submenu items to "Open", "Close" and "Exit". image
Click to expand the item 2 "Exit" menu item option. image
Set the item 2 "Exit" onexecute handler to "exitonexecute". image
Press the enter key twice (or press F12) to switch the focus to the program code. Enter "Close" in the exitonexecute procedure. image
Click on Target -> Continue or press F9 to execute the menu project. image
Click on File -> Exit to exit the menu project and return to the ide. image
You should now be back in the ide. image
